Why “I Should Be Able to Lose Weight by Myself” Is Keeping You Stuck
You’re successful, capable, and used to figuring things out. So why does losing weight—and keeping it off—feel like the one thing you just can’t seem to crack?
If you’ve ever thought, “I know what I should be doing. I should be able to do this myself,” this episode is for you.
The problem may not be that you need another diet, meal plan, or set of rules. You probably already know about protein, calories, exercise, and eating more vegetables.
The real challenge is understanding what’s driving your behaviour around food.
In this episode, we explore why successful women can spend 10, 20, or even 30 years stuck in the same cycle of dieting, emotional eating, sugar cravings, wine, guilt, and starting again on Monday.
You’ll discover the three areas we focus on inside the Never Diet Again process:
Reset: Looking at the physical side of weight loss, including hunger, energy crashes, cravings, meal structure, sleep, stress, and metabolic flexibility.
Rewire: Understanding emotional eating and the automatic habits that connect stress, boredom, relaxation, or reward with food and alcohol.
Realign: Breaking all-or-nothing thinking, perfectionism, poor boundaries, and the beliefs that make lasting change so difficult.
We also talk about menopause weight loss and why hormonal changes can matter—but may not explain the whole picture.
Most importantly, you’ll learn why trying harder and relying on willpower can keep you trapped.
When you eat because you’re stressed, automatically reach for wine at the end of the day, or turn one unplanned meal into an entire weekend of overeating, you don’t necessarily need more discipline.
You need to understand the pattern underneath the behaviour.
And sometimes, seeing those patterns by yourself is incredibly difficult.
Good coaching isn’t about becoming dependent on someone to tell you what to eat. The goal is the opposite: to understand yourself, rebuild trust in yourself, and develop the skills to handle food, holidays, stressful weeks, and real life without constantly needing another diet.
