How Jacqueline Lost 33.7kg Without Feeling Hungry
What if losing weight didn’t mean feeling hungry, giving up your favourite foods, or starting another diet?
After decades of yo-yo dieting, Jacqueline finally discovered what was really keeping her stuck—and it had nothing to do with willpower.
Six months after first sharing her story on the podcast, Jacqueline is back with an incredible update. She has now lost 33.7kg (over 5 stone), but she says the biggest transformation isn’t the number on the scales. It’s the complete shift in how she thinks about food, weight loss, and herself.
Before joining the Live360 programme, Jacqueline had tried everything—from Slimming World and Weight Watchers to shake diets, cabbage soup diets, low-carb plans, and more. Like so many women over 40, she would lose weight, regain it, and end up heavier than before.
Her mobility had become so poor that tying her shoelaces was difficult, and she worried she wouldn’t be able to enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime trip to visit her daughter in Japan.
In this episode, Jacqueline shares how changing her mindset around emotional eating helped her break free from decades of dieting.
You'll hear:
Why traditional diets never solved the real problem.
The mindset changes that made weight loss feel easier.
How she lost weight while enjoying a holiday in Japan.
Why she no longer snacks between meals or relies on food for comfort.
How food became fuel instead of a coping mechanism.
The identity shift that made healthy choices feel natural instead of forced.
Simple changes to your environment that make long-term success much easier.
One of the most powerful moments in this conversation is hearing Jacqueline say she has lost over 33kg without feeling hungry. That might sound impossible if you've spent years battling cravings, emotional eating, or menopause weight gain, but her story shows what can happen when you stop relying on restriction and start addressing the real reasons you overeat.
If you're tired of starting over every Monday, struggling with sugar cravings, or believing you simply need more willpower, this episode will give you a completely different way of thinking about lasting weight loss.
Why Previous Diets Never Solved the Real Problem
Jacqueline had spent years searching for the next diet that would finally work.
Most of them helped her lose weight in the short term. The problem came afterwards. The old habits returned, the weight came back and she found herself starting all over again.
Looking back, Jacqueline realised she wasn't failing because she lacked willpower. Like many people, she already knew what healthy eating looked like. The real challenge was changing the habits, thoughts and emotional triggers that kept pulling her back into the same cycle.
That shift in thinking became one of the biggest turning points in her journey.

The Holiday That Proved Everything Had Changed
One of the most powerful moments in Jacqueline's story came during a family holiday to Japan.
Before losing weight, she worried she wouldn't be able to keep up with her family. She feared the walking, the stairs and the sightseeing would simply be too much.
Instead, she walked for hours, chose the stairs instead of escalators, explored places she never thought she'd manage and enjoyed the holiday without feeling she was "on a diet."
She still enjoyed Japanese food and ate three satisfying meals each day.
The biggest difference was that food no longer controlled the holiday.
In the past, holidays often began at the airport with snacks, sweets and crisps before she'd even boarded the plane. This time, she made conscious choices without feeling deprived.
The lesson isn't that you should lose weight on holiday.
It's that healthy habits don't have to disappear when normal life changes.
How She Stopped Snacking Without Willpower
Jacqueline describes her old self as a "total snackaholic."
Food wasn't just food.
It was comfort.
It was boredom.
It was habit.
Today, she rarely snacks because she no longer feels physically hungry between meals.
Instead of automatically reaching for food, she learned to pause and ask herself whether she was actually hungry or simply responding to boredom, stress or old habits.
She still enjoys eating out, home-cooked meals and social occasions.
The difference is that food no longer has to solve every emotion.

When Healthy Choices Become Part of Who You Are
One of Jacqueline's favourite moments in the episode is when she says:
"The old Jacqueline didn't think she would ever shift weight. The new Jacqueline knows she will get to goal."
That change in identity made healthy choices feel normal rather than forced.
Avoiding crisps no longer feels like a daily battle.
Healthy choices stopped feeling like something she had to force herself to do.
They simply became part of who she is.
As Max explains throughout the conversation, willpower can help in the short term.
Long-term success comes when healthier habits become your normal way of living.

Why Jacqueline's Story Matters
Jacqueline's story isn't inspiring simply because she lost 33.7kg.
It's inspiring because she stopped believing another diet was the answer.
Instead, she changed the way she thought about food, habits and herself.
She no longer believes every setback means failure.
She no longer relies on food for comfort.
She no longer feels controlled by cravings.
That mindset shift gave her something far more valuable than weight loss.
It gave her confidence, freedom and the belief that her healthy habits could last.
