Why Fat Loss Is Harder for Women (and Why We Only Coach Women)
Ever wondered why losing weight feels so much harder for you than it does for your partner?
You’re not imagining it — the science, psychology, and society all make fat loss a completely different journey for women.
In this powerful episode, Max and head coach Shane open up about why the Live360 program is exclusively for women — and why trying to follow the same advice as men sets you up for frustration and failure.
They break down the four big reasons women face unique challenges with weight loss:
1. Psychological Differences
Women process stress and emotions differently — often turning to food for comfort in ways men don’t. Add in self-criticism, guilt, and perfectionism, and it’s easy to see why traditional “just eat less and move more” advice doesn’t work.
Many women also feel isolated in their struggles, even in loving relationships. Partners often mean well, but they simply don’t understand why it’s so much harder for women.
2. Physiological Differences
Hormones are the game-changer.
Monthly cycles, perimenopause, and menopause all cause fluctuations in energy, hunger, mood, and water retention. That means progress isn’t linear — and expecting it to be only leads to burnout.
Women’s bodies also naturally burn fewer calories at rest (a lower basal metabolic rate), making consistency and compassion essential. Max and Shane share how they teach clients to work with their cycles and hormones, not against them.
3. Societal & Cultural Pressures
From ‘90s diet ads to TikTok trends, women have been told their worth equals their weight. Dieting, emotional eating, and “starting over Monday” are so normalized that most women don’t realize how damaging it is.
Max and Shane explore how these messages pass from mother to daughter, creating generations of women stuck in the same cycle of guilt and dieting.
4. Life Load & Priorities
Women wear all the hats — career, family, caregiver — and are taught that putting themselves last is noble. But as Max says, “You can’t pour from an empty cup.” When you learn to prioritize yourself without guilt, everything changes: your health, your energy, and even your relationships.
The Live360 program helps women drop the fad diets and instead focus on the five root causes of weight struggles: negative self-talk, all-or-nothing thinking, emotional eating, limiting beliefs, and identity. When you fix those, weight loss becomes the natural byproduct.
If you’re over 40 and feel like your body (and metabolism) have turned against you, this episode will give you the clarity and compassion you’ve been missing — and show you that it’s not your fault.
